ICARUS Lab

The Innovative Collaboratory for Advancing Research with Underserved and Stigmatized (iCARUS) strives to bridge the boundaries that have traditionally divided behavioral and biomedical research to optimize the health of marginalized, underserved populations. In multiple randomized controlled trials, we are developing and testing behavioral interventions to boost the effectiveness of biomedical approaches to HIV/AIDS prevention in people who use substances. Our team is also conducting bio-behavioral studies to identify the pathways whereby substance use could amplify risk for HIV acquisition, accelerate clinical HIV progression, and increase risk for infection was the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2).
