Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade
- Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade is comprised of over 400 organizations who cohesively aim to combat increasing rates of chronic diseases in Miami-Dade County in order for residents to live longer, happier, and healthier lives by strengthening sustainable policies, systems, and environments. Ms. Soto from Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade will aid in disseminating our results and health risks related to hookah smoking to the community.

Community Outreach Core at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center
- The community outreach program at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center is committed to reduce the burden of cancer in Florida by educating and empowering patients, family, and the community. The Community Outreach Core at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center informs the community of available resources for cancer prevention and treatment and is committed to a tobacco free community, as tobacco is an important risk factor for cancer. Dr. Kobetz from the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center will assist in disseminating our results while simultaneously communicating the risks of hookah smoking and promoting health warning labels for hookah control in Florida.
Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids
- The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids is an American organization that advocates for the reduction of tobacco consumption not only in the United Stated but around the world. Ms. Rodas, from Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids will aid in disseminating our results to community leaders and society, promote health warning labels for waterpipe control in Florida, and communicate the harmful effects of waterpipe smoking among youth.

University of Tunis, Tunisia
- We will collaborate with the Dr. Habiba Zehi Ben Romdhane, Tunisia’s health minister and professor of preventive medicine with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tunis to build on our work for project 3. Dr. Habiba Zehi Ben Romdhane is also head of the Laboratory for Research on the epidemiology and prevention of cardiovascular diseases and has worked with the World Health Organization. She is the founding member of several national and international medical societies, including the Tunisian League of Epidemiology.
American University of Beirut, Lebanon
- We will work alongside Dr. Rima Nakkash from the American University of Beirut for project 3. Dr. Nakkash is American University of Beirut’s Tobacco Control Research Group coordinator and chair of the university’s Tobacco Free Task Force, as well as co-director of WHO’s Framework Convention on Tobacco Control Knowledge Hub for Waterpipe Tobacco Smoking. Her research interests in tobacco control include tobacco industry strategies in influencing tobacco control, evaluating tobacco control policies, and tobacco health warning labels amongst others.
