The objective of the study - led by Renae Schmidt, a second-year Master of Public Health (MPH) candidate, and Viviana E. Horigian, M.D., M.H.A., associate professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences - is to gain an understanding of the psychosocial impacts of COVID-19 on young adults.
The aim of the project is to collect epidemiologic data on the patterns of mental and physical health, substance use (frequency and dose), and potential disease transmission behaviors among young adults during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Denise Vidot is leading the preliminary study in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of experts from SONHS, the Department of Public Health Sciences, the University of Texas, the University of North Carolina and SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
